permission is sought for the continued extraction and processing (drilling, blasting, crushing and screening of rock using mobile plant) of the existing rock quarry and related ancillary buildings, existing site entrance and haul road, and facilities (permitted under ABP Ref. PL17.217766 (MCC Reg. Ref. SA/50073)). The quarry has a permitted extraction area of c. 18.15ha to a permitted depth of –15 m OD. Permission is also sought for an extraction area (c. 15.4ha) encompassing part (c. 6.8ha) of the previously permitted extraction area and a new extension to the south (c. 8.6ha) to a depth of –15 m OD (as established by the current permission). The proposed development will also consist of the importation of c. 2.7 million tonnes of non-waste soil and stone to be partly utilised in the backfilling of the existing quarry void (c. 7.4ha) to the north of the site as part of the proposed progressive restoration phase. The proposed development will also include a new soil washing and aggregate recovery plant to be utilised in the recovery of aggregate resources from a) the imported non-waste soil and stone and b) the recovery of resources from on-site unexcavated overburden and temporary overburden storage mounds. The permitted annual average extraction rate is 400,000 tonnes per annum (equivalent to 800,000 tonnes per annum during peak periods), limited to a daily maximum rate of 3,000 tonnes. Permission is sought to increase the permitted average annual extraction to an average annual production rate to 650,000 tonnes per annum (equivalent to 900,000 tonnes per annum during peak periods) to a maximum daily rate of 3,400 tonnes per day. Permission is also sought for: the relocation of a storage container, weighbridges, shipping office, office, canteen drying room and welfare room; the demolition of the existing electrical substation (c. 15.3 sq m) and the removal of the existing wheelwash, percolation area, twin chamber wastewater treatment tanks, bunded fuel area, car and truck parking area, water discharge treatment facility including hydrocarbon interceptor and water quality monitoring equipment; and the provision of new well, electrical substation (c. 53.9 sq m), wheelwash, septic tank and percolation area, bunded fuel tank, car and truck parking area, and a discharge water treatment facility (comprising 2 No. settlement ponds with a total volume of 3,925m3, with associated hydrocarbon interceptor, a concrete canal with a “V” notch weir, and
