Project scope

The proposed development comprises the extension and refurbishment of the existing Maynooth Student Hub and provides for: • Partial demolition of the northern portion of the Maynooth Student Hub (approximately 722sqm) to facilitate the construction of a new part-2 storey, part-3 storey extension (approximately 1789sqm GFA) comprising entrance and reception area, office and meeting spaces, together with a roof terrace. • Demolition of an existing storage shed (84sqm) and provision of a new 2-storey equivalent extension to the west (approximately 648sqm GFA), comprising of a new auditorium and ancillary spaces at ground floor level with associated auditorium void and plant areas at first floor level. • Extensive refurbishment of existing building, including reconfiguration and reorganisation of internal spaces; deep energy retrofit; replacement of mechanical and electrical (M&E) services; and recladding of existing external elevations. • Upgrade to the public realm, comprising hard and soft landscape works surrounding the Student Hub and the incorporation of 32 short term bicycle parking spaces. • All other associated works, including boundary treatments, waste management area, thermal upgrade of the existing building including solar PV panels at roof level (65 sqm), lighting and signage, necessary to facilitate the proposed extension and refurbishment. The proposed development will result in an overall increase in gross floor area of the Student Hub from approximately 1,760sqm to 3,475sqm.
