Project scope

Replacement (“restringing”) and uprating of c.8.89km section of the conductor along the existing Athy - Carlow 110 kV OHL circuit; - Provision of fibre communication connection on the uprated circuit; - Replacement of 11No. existing Intermediate Wooden Polesets, with similar structures. The replacement of these structures will result in standardised heights from 16m to 24m, with height increases between 1m and 3m; - Replacement of 12No. existing intermediate Wooden Polesets crossarms; - Recapping works on shear blocks at 1No. existing steel angle mast; - Foundation strengthening of 1No. existing steel angle mast; - Bar member replacements to 8No. existing steel angle masts; - Separation of the existing double OHL circuit to provide for a new bypass OHL section measuring approximately 422m, connecting from the existing Athy 110 kV substation to the following proposed new structures on the existing Athy - Portlaoise 110 kV OHL: 2no. new single circuit angle masts (approximately 22.5m maximum height) and 1no. new wooden poleset (approximately 23.6m maximum height); and, - All associated works/development to existing structures, including hardware replacement (strain clamps, suspension clamps and vibration dampers), replacement of step bolts, replacement of line identification and danger notices, painting of angle masts, replacement/installation of anti-climbing guards, access tracks, vegetation clearance, temporary construction compounds and all other works necessary to facilitate the development
