Bord Gáis Energy Limited intend to apply for planning permission for development at Glanagow and Corkbeg (townlands), Whitegate, Co. Cork, within a total site area of 3.15 hectares within the curtilage of the Whitegate Power Station. The proposed development consists of a 10 year Planning Permission for a Grid Stability Service Development including the provision of a synchronous condenser enclosed within a building of approximately 552m² gross floor area and approximately 12.1 metres in height, associated plant and apparatus including 8 no. modular electrical control containers with a combined gross floor area of approximately 238m², 3 no. transformers, external cooling equipment, an external circuit breaker, fuel tank and containerised emergency diesel generator with a gross floor area of approximately 30m². The proposed development also seeks permission for the provision of a 220kV electrical cabling connection to the nearby Glanagow 220kV substation, lightning protection masts, lighting, security fencing, the provision of a new access track and localised widening of existing access road, the removal of 4 no. existing modular buildings (currently in use as offices, staff and storage facilities) and associated foundations, and all associated ancillary site and development works.
